Hi, I’m Allie.
I created Sunlight Editing to help you write stories that move people.
A poet’s philosophy
I believe that writing and sharing stories is fundamental for connecting with ourselves, each other, and the planet.
My approach is strengthened by a decade of experience as an educator, where I learned to center warmth in each lesson. I believe that the editor-author relationship can be mutually inspiring–not scary and hierarchical.
I’m a writer who “gets it”
I’ve experienced the highs and lows that come with a creatively-driven life. I also understand how guidance and accountability propel a project forward. As a poet who has gone through intense editing rounds myself, I prioritize clear and compassionate communication. My background includes a master’s degree in English: Creative Writing, a Fulbright Fellowship, and a Pushcart Prize nomination.
I love equipping writers for success so they feel confident their story is important and ready to share.
My Core Values
Three values anchor my practice.
I love connecting with folks who share similar values. If these resonate with you, then we might be a great fit for collaborating. These values also influenced my decision to become a business member with Patagonia’s 1 Percent for the Planet.
Compassion: Listen like everyone has a story to share.
Community: Seek and nurture spaces where stories spark connection.
Reciprocity: Help people and the planet.
