Hi, I’m Allie.
I created Sunlight Editing to help you write stories that move people.
A poet’s philosophy
I believe that writing and sharing stories is fundamental for connecting with ourselves, each other, and the planet.
My approach is strengthened by a decade of experience as an educator, where I learned to center warmth in each lesson. I believe that the editor-author relationship can be mutually inspiring–not scary and hierarchical.
I’m a writer who “gets it”
Creative expression is so important. As a writer, I get it, and I’ve also experienced the highs and lows that come with a creatively-driven life. I understand the role that inspiration, guidance, and accountability can play too.
As a poet who has gone through various critiques and editing rounds myself, I prioritize clear and compassionate communication. My educational background includes a master’s degree in English: Creative Writing. Honors include a Fulbright Fellowship, a Pushcart Prize nomination, and a Best of the Net nomination.
With Sunlight Editing, I support writers of all experience levels so they feel confident that their story matters and that it’s a story worth telling.
My Core Values
Three values anchor my practice.
I love connecting with folks who share similar values. I also like to “walk the walk” and see how these values can inform what action to take, not only in business, but also in life.
Reciprocity, for example, influenced my decision to join Patagonia’s 1 Percent for the Planet and donate to various nonprofits each year.
Compassion: Listen like everyone has a story to share.
Community: Seek and nurture spaces where stories spark connection.
Reciprocity: Help people and the planet.
