Hi, I’m Allie.

I created Sunlight Editing to help you write stories that move people.

A poet’s philosophy

I believe that writing and sharing stories is fundamental for connecting with ourselves, each other, and the planet.

My approach is strengthened by a decade of experience as an educator, where I learned to center warmth in each lesson. I believe that the editor-author relationship can be mutually inspiring–not scary and hierarchical.

I’m a writer who β€œgets it”

I’ve experienced the highs and lows that come with a creatively-driven life. I also understand how inspiration, guidance, and accountability propel a project forward.

As a poet who has gone through intense editing rounds myself, I prioritize clear and compassionate communication. My background includes a master’s degree in English: Creative Writing, as well as a Fulbright Fellowship, a Pushcart Prize nomination, and a Best of the Net nomination.

With Sunlight Editing, I equip writers for success so that they feel confident that their story is worth telling.

My Core Values

Three values anchor my practice.

I love connecting with folks who share similar values. If these resonate with you, then we might be a great fit for collaborating. These values also influenced my decision to become a business member with Patagonia’s 1 Percent for the Planet.

  1. Compassion: Listen like everyone has a story to share.

  2. Community: Seek and nurture spaces where stories spark connection.

  3. Reciprocity: Help people and the planet.

Are you ready to feel confident about your story?

You have brilliant ideas. Now you need a guide.
